Lulu and the Secret Door

It started because I dropped a crayon behind the bookshelf. Lulu went to get it — she's helpful like that — but she didn't come back.

I looked behind the shelf and saw something I'd never noticed before: a tiny door. It was painted the same color as the wall, which is why nobody ever saw it. It was so small that only a puppy could fit through.

"Lulu?" I called.

I heard a muffled bark from the other side. It sounded... fluffy.

I pushed the bookshelf (it was heavy, but I'm strong) and squeezed through the little door. On the other side was a world made entirely of pillows.

The ground was pillows. The trees were pillows. The clouds were — you guessed it — pillows. Everything was soft and squishy and smelled like clean laundry.

Lulu was already rolling around in a pile of pillow-flowers. Her tail was going so fast it was basically a helicopter.

"This is the best place ever," I said.

We explored for what felt like hours. We found a pillow castle with a pillow drawbridge. We met a pillow cat who purred like a washing machine. We climbed a pillow mountain and slid down the other side.

At the top of the mountain, I could see a pillow ocean. The waves were slow and soft and made a gentle whooshing sound. Lulu barked at them. They whooshed back.

When we got hungry, we found a pillow tree with marshmallow fruit. (Pillow world has the best snacks.)

Eventually, we found our way back to the tiny door. We squeezed through, and I pushed the bookshelf back. Lulu had a pillow feather stuck to her nose.

Sometimes at night, I hear a tiny sound behind the bookshelf. I think pillow world misses us.

We'll go back soon. Lulu already knows the way.
